Washburn Homemakers (20 May 1971)

Mrs. Darrel Hohenstein entertained the Washburn Homemakers club Wednesday with 10 members and one visitor present. Mrs. Albert Lincoln, vice president, presided in the absence of the president, Mrs. Arnold Huth, Sr.

After the business meeting plans were made for the club tour in June with another club from near Granton. The tour will be to New Glarus to visit a factory and various places; also the House on the Rock near Dodgeville.

The group composed a letter and sent it to the “60 Minutes” program regarding the program of April 27 when they so drastically condemned all dairy products, to let them know farmers’ wives and homemaker clubs didn’t all agree with their ideas. If they keep condemning dairy products many of the farmers will quit donating to the Heart Fund. Some already have.

Plans were made for a family picnic to be held on July 18 at Sherwood Park. Then August is fair month. There will be no meeting until September, when it will be held at the home of Mrs. Oliver Williams.

Mrs. Robert Spiegel, health and safety chairman, talked on, “Fire in the home.” Very few of the ladies knew their fire telephone number but did now it was the Granton Rural Fire Department. The number is 238-2211 which should be posted near you telephone as in the excitement of a fire you may forget it.
