Klessig, Mr./Mrs. Christ (50th Anniv. - 2 Nov. 1941)

Mr. and Mrs. Christ Klessig celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday at a family reunion at their farm home, a mile and a half southwest of Curtiss, in the Town of Hoard. Their eight children and families were present for the occasion:

Albert and William Klessig, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Marquardt, Marathon; Norman Marquardt, St. Cloud, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lammer, Wausau; Miss Vivian Marquardt, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Klessig and son, Helmuth, Jr., and Lyle, Water Valley, Miss.; Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Kobs and son, Kenneth and Jack, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Mandel and daughters, Doreen and Marlyn, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Klessig and daughter, Lavonne, and son, Jerold, Colby; Raymond Klessig, at home, and his son, Eli, Town of Hoard.

The couple have 13 grand children and three great grand children: Marcia and Maureen Marquardt, daughters of the Norman Marquardts, and Gene Rae Lammer, son of the Clarence Lammers.

A 6 o’clock dinner was served at an appropriately decorated table, which had as its centerpiece a large wedding cake. The honor couple were presented with a gift from the family.

Also present at the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Klessig’s neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Matthias and the Rev. and Mrs. S. A. Schmiechen and son, of Colby, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. Klessig were married in Calumet county on Nov. 3, 1891. Before coming to this community, they resided in Calumet county and at Antigo. Since 1902 they have made their home at their present farm.
