Havlicek, Dolores (Marriage - 1 September 1951)

Miss Dolores Havlicek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr., of Neillsville became the bride of John C. McNeil of Oak Park, Ill., at a candlelight ceremony performed at the Judson Baptist Church in Oak Park on Saturday September 1, at seven o’clock. They repeated their vows before an altar banked with baskets of gladiolus, roses, carnations and ferns. The church was decorated with white ribbon streamers, candelabras and also carpeted with a white runner. The Rev. E. C. Palmer performed the double ring ceremony.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, chose a gown of ivory satin. It was styled with long fitted sleeves; a sweetheart neckline edged with Chantilly lace, and had a peplum effect of the same lace and a full length train. Her long veil was held in place by a rolled lace head piece. She carried a bridal bouquet of pink roses and stephanotis. She wore a pearl necklace.

Her matron of honor, Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Jr., was gowned in silver-embroidered orchid taffeta. She wore a head dress of yellow roses to match her bouquet.

Charles Havlicek, Jr., brother of the bride, served as best man, with Robert Beal and Kenneth Williams of Oak Park, as ushers.

George Palms sang two selections during the ceremony. He was accompanied by Miss Helen Bergman.

The bride’s and groom’s mothers were dressed in navy blue rayon dresses and wore orchid corsages.

Following the ceremony a reception for 70 guests was held at Neilson’s in Elmwood Park, Ill. The room was decorated with baskets of gladiolus and carnations with lighted candles. A huge three tiered wedding cake centered the bride’s table.

After a honeymoon through Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan, the young couple will be at home in Oak Park, Ill.

The bride attended Neillsville High School and is employed in Chicago. The groom received his education in Illinois and graduated from the Illinois College. Both are employed at the Sunbeam c\corporation.

Relatives were present for the wedding from Chicago, Glen Ellyn, Oak Park, and Cicero, Ill., and Neillsville.
