Thompson, Dorothy Edith (Marriage - 30 June 1951)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church was the scene of the marriage Saturday, June 30, of Miss Dorothy Edith Thompson and David Bruce Bertz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Bertz, of Loyal. Officiating at the 9:00 a.m. nuptial mass was the Rev. John J. Pritzl. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Forest Thompson of 126 East Ninth Street.

For her wedding the bride chose a gown of white marquisette over satin, styled with a drop shoulder effect, a bertha collar of lace with seed pearl buttons and lily of the valley caught at the shoulders. The snug fitting bodice was closed down the back with self covered buttons and the long sleeves tapered to points at the wrists. The full skirt and train were styled with lace inserts. Her finger tip veil fell from a tiara of net with sequins and seed pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of white gladiolus and swansonia.

Mrs. Ed Bogdonovich of Greenwood, a sister of the groom, was matron of honor. She was dressed in a gown of white frosted organdy over green taffeta. It was fashioned with a Peter Pan collar; self covered buttons and a green sash. She wore a white net coronet as a head dress and white frosted organdy gauntlets. She carried peach gladiolus with green streamers.

Miss Carol Thompson, sister of the bride, as bridesmaid was dressed in a gown of white frosted organdy over orchid taffeta styled like the matron of honor. She wore a coronet and gauntlets of white frosted organdy and carried a bouquet of pink gladiolus with orchid streamers.

Paula Kay Bertz, a niece of the groom, acted as flower girl. She was dressed in yellow organdy that was styled with a gathered yoke and lace trimmed neckline.

Michael Bushnell, nephew of the groom, of Marshfield acted as ring bearer.

Ed Bogdonovich of Greenwood was best man and Gerald Luchterhand of Spencer, groomsman, Robert Bertz, brother of the groom, and Norman Thompson, brother of the bride, served as ushers.

Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride’s parents for the immediate bridal party. A dinner for 60 guests was served there, with a wedding reception in the afternoon.

The bride was graduated from the Neillsville High School with the class of 1950 and is employed as a secretary to a local attorney. The groom is a graduate of the Loyal High School with the class of 1947 and is with the army, now stationed at Fort Sheridan, Ill. Following their honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, the bride will resume her work when her husband returns to camp.

Guests from out of town attending the ceremony included persons from Loyal, Greenwood, Marshfield, Fall Creek, Merrillan, Eau Claire, Granton, Abbotsford, and Ann Arbor, Mich.
