Rued, Matthias #2 (22 JAN 1858 - 4 FEB 1949)

Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon for Matt Rued, age 91, who passed away at his farm home in Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.) on Friday, Feb. 4th, 1949. services were conducted from the Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. G. E. Borreson officiating. Clark Nissen, accompanied by Mrs. G. E. Borreson at the organ, sang "In the Garden: and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." Pallbearers were: Art Tonn, Alfred Herman, George Lindau, Clarence Geary, and Arnold and Albert Bakke.

Matt Anderson Rued was born on Jan. 22, 1858 in Gausdal, Norway. In 1880 he came to America and began farming in the Town of Hoard. He returned to Norway in 1888. On March 19, 1889, he married Randi Holsaeter and came back to America. They settled on the farm where they lived ever since. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in March 1939.

Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Ness, Santa Monica, Calif., and Agnes, Town of Hoard; two sons, Axel, Curtiss, and Paul, Big Lake, Minn.; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Among those from away attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Emil Erickson and Olaf Eng of Westby, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rued and daughter and sons of Big Lake, Minn., Fred Olson, Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Rued of Gilman and Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Rued of Marshfield.
