Szerlong, Eloise (11 NOV 1951)

On the morning of Nov. 11th, 1951, at 10 o’clock, Miss Eloise Szerlong, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam Szerlong of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Clarence Nowobielski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Nowobielski, all of Thorp, in a nuptial ceremony performed by the Rev. Francis Przybylski, Chaplain of St. Mary’s Hospital of Wausau, at St. Hedwig’s Church, Thorp. Rev. Przybylski is a cousin of the bride.

For the occasion the church was beautifully decorated with palms and white rugs.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attired in a gown of white satin with lace insert in bodice and long train. Her fingertip veil of French imported illusion was bordered with Chantilly lace. Her wedding bouquet was of white pompons centered with an orchid.

Miss Alice Strzok, cousin of the groom, was maid of honor, and sisters of the groom, Joan and Christine Nowobielski, were bridesmaids. They wore identical aqua satin dresses with apron effect and carried colonial bouquets.

Marion Szerlong, brothers of the bride, was best man and Marion Wnek, cousin of the groom, served as usher.

During the services the bride place flowers on the Blessed Virgin Altar while the choir sang "The Rosary." Mrs. Lillian Kaczmarek sang "Ave Maria" during the ceremony and Jos. Pabich the "Pandis Angelicus."

After the ceremony a reception was held at St. Hedwig’s Hall, attended by many friends and relatives of the happy couple. They spent their honeymoon in southern Wisconsin and Chicago.

Both bride and groom are graduates of the Thorp High School and well known in this community. They will make their home on a farm in the Town of Reseburg.

Out of town guests at the wedding were: Joe Nowobielski, Mrs. Ed Larkowski, Mrs. Al Baginski, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mizorka of Chicago, Rev. Francis Przybylski of Wausau, T. Sgt. And Mrs. Louis Wehlacz and Cpl. Harvey Strzok of the U. S. Army.
