Depa, Sophia (14 MAY 1891 - AUG 1951)

Mrs. Sophia Depa (nee Sophia Godawa) was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lublin, Wis., after a lingering illness.

She was born May 14, 1891 at Peim, Poland, coming to America at the age of 18, she stayed in Chicago later coming to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), she was united in marriage to Marek Depa. They settled on a farm north of Thorp. There they lived for 39 years, moving to the city of Thorp in 1948.

She leaves to mourn, her husband and five children, Mrs. Ted (Frances) Kator, Mrs. Steve (Anna) Bacik, Tony Dietkiewicz, Mrs. Henry (Lillie) Filipiak, all of Chicago and Victoria at home; four step-children, Mrs. Louis (Jean) Kula and Victor Depa of Chicago, Edward Depa and Mrs. Stanley (Sophia) Kaszubowski of Thorp, also 11 grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her first husband, John Mastella.

Services were held at St. Mary’s Church at Lublin, Rev. Pataszewski officiating.
