Hoeft, Mary Anna (24 June 1852 - 23 Mar. 1941)

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Anna Hoeft, who died Sunday after a two day illness were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral Home, Colby, and at 2 o’clock in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. J. Brandt officiated at the rites. Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

The pallbearers were: Edwin and Henry Jacobi, Ben Graffunder, Anton Kramer, Henry Parge and Joe Zugier. Four grand daughters carried the floral tributes to their grandmother: the Misses Anita Hoeft, Lillian Kleiman, and Evelyn and Juanita Hoeft.

Mrs. Hoeft, born Mary Anna Soldheis, in the Town of Herman near Sheboygan, June 24, 1852, spent her childhood there. On March 1, 1875 she was united in marriage to Gustave Hoeft and they continued to live in Sheboygan another eight years.

In the year 1883 the Hoefts, among the very early pioneers, moved to this country and settled on a farm in the Town of Holton which was her home until her death.

Eight children were born to them, two of whom preceded her in death, one in infancy and her daughter, Elizabeth, who died last October 11. Her husband also preceded her in death, October 15, 1932.

Mrs. Hoeft became ill very suddenly last Friday and died Sunday at 11:50 a.m. Death was caused by a heart ailment at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 29 days.

Her surviving relatives are her six children: Fred and Lois Hoeft, at home; Mrs. Ida Kleiman, Mrs. Anna Schultz, Otto Hoeft, all of the Town of Holton and Gust Hoeft in Abbotsford, Wis. There are 13 grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Ted Hoeft.
