The bride was given in marriage by Charles B. Austin, in the absence of her father.

The bride was attired in a white satin dress, with a beaded sweetheart neckline and with long sleeves coming to a point at the wrist. She wore a fingertip veil of net, with Dutch cap headpiece, which had been worn by the matron of honor at her wedding. She carried an oval hand bouquet of white gladiolus flowerlets and gardenias.

The matron of honor, Mrs. Charles Kauffman, sister-in-law of the bride, who before her marriage was Miss Betty Austin of Arlington, wore a light blue dress of brocaded satin and a silver beaded Juliet cap, and she carried an oval hand bouquet of Coral Gladioli.

Mrs. Charles Austin, who was hostess at the reception and in the receiving line, wore a black floor length dress, with turquoise inserts, trimmed with rhinestones and black accessories, and a carnation corsage. The groom’s mother was also in the receiving line and wore a green floor length dress , with black accessories, and a white carnation corsage.

Best man was the bride’s brother, Cpl. Charles L. Kauffman, of Fort Monmouth, N.J., and ushers were Cpl. William F. Austin of Washington, D. C. and Charles Arnold of New York City.

Mrs. O. E. Hedges, the organist, was my mother, Martha Helen (Royer) Hedges, married to Ora Elton Hedges; both were members of Community Methodist Church at the time. They lived in Arlington, VA where she taught piano in her home. Mrs. O. E. Hedges played the piano and organ in the Northern Virginia area for churches, weddings, etc., for many years until her passing in 1987.
