Wedding with Large Family Dinner - Reception is attended by 100 - Party is held at the VFW Hall

Mr. and Mrs. Oluf Olson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday, March 27. On Saturday, March 31st, a dinner for relatives was held in their honor at noon at the V.F.W. Hall, with about 75 relatives from all over the state in attendance.

The tables were decorated with gold streamers and beautiful yellow and white bouquets. A golden wedding cake was the centerpiece. In the afternoon a reception was held, with about 100 in attendance.

Mr. and Mrs. Olson were married March 27, 1901, and spent the first 14 years of their married life on various farms in northern Clark County and Marathon County and Abbotsford, Wis. In December 1914, they moved to Neillsville where they have since resided.

They are the parents of ten children, two of whom are dead: Francis, who died in infancy and Robert, who died at the age of 25. The living children are: Ellen, Mrs. Maynard Johnson, who teaches at Wausau; Barbara, Mrs. David Daniel, Cambria; Sallie, Mrs. Ewald Schwarze, Greenwood; Gilbert, Rice Lake; Fern, Mrs. Albert Holt; Kenneth; Mildred, Mrs. Lowell Dorn, Abbotsford; and Oluf, Jr., Wisconsin Rapids. They also have 24 living grandchildren. All nine of Mr. and Mrs. Olson’ children graduated from the Neillsville High School.

Among those from out of town who attended, besides the sons and daughters and their families, were Mrs. Rose Cox, Kennon and Mike Olson, Hilbert, who were Mr. and Mrs. Olson’s attendants at their wedding fifty years ago; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olson, Cherokee, who are brother and sister of Mr. and Mrs. Olson; Mrs. Louisa Fisher, Black River Falls, another sister of Mrs. Olson; Tony Olson, Cherokee, a brother; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Van Gorden and Mrs. Mahlon Nordahl and daughter Pat, Alma Center; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Voelker and Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Van Roy, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Olson and Mr. and Mrs. Lionel Olson and family, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schumacher, Sheboygan; Mrs. Roland Loewe, Hilbert; Donald Olson, Sheboygan; Kathleen Olson, Hilbert; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Olson, Curtiss; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Pirwitz, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Chet Leu, Curtiss and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Totzke, Stratford; also many friends from Neillsville and other parts of the county.
