Klouda, Carl (28 DEC 1872 - 2 JAN 1951)

Carl Klouda, 78, machine shop mechanic, blacksmith, locksmith, passed away at the Stanley hospital on Tuesday morning of old age infirmities. He had been a patient there for the past year. Mr. Klouda operated a machine shop here and served this community for 38 years. He retired in Nov. 1941.

Funeral services will be held at the Thorp Funeral Home at 10:00 o’clock Friday morning with burial in the East Thorp Cemetery.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. Shaw at the Thorp Funeral Home at 10:00 o’clock Friday morning last for Carl Klouda, 78, who passed away at the Stanley hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 2nd of old age.

The deceased was born in Drasow, Moravia, Austria on Dec. 28, 1872. He came to America in 1903 and for thirty-eight years plied his trade of master blacksmith, tool smith, etc, in this community.

Mr. Klouda spent an interesting life of adventure in the old country before coming here and when he became an American citizen kept himself thoroughly informed of world happenings by extensive reading. He retired from active work in 1941. He had been in ill health for the past two years.

He is survived by two sons, Charles of Sheboygan, Wis., and William of Murdock, Calif., in army service. Mrs. Klouda died in 1934.

His remains were laid to rest in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Walter Boelter, Alfred Burkhardt, Ben Burkhardt, Isaac Sisco, William J. Klouda and Louis Gruszynski.
