Abeita, Sgt. Augustine D. #2 (Military Notes - 1971)

Sgt. Augustine D. Abeita, whose wife Barbara, lives in Neillsville, recently received the Silver Star and the Combat Infantryman Badge near Chu Lai, Vietnam.

Sgt. Abeita received the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations against a hostile force in Vietnam. The Combat Infantryman Badge was awarded for sustained ground contact against the enemy.

A rifleman with Company C, 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry of the Americal Division’s 109th Infantry Brigade, he entered the army in February, 1966, and was last stationed at Ft. George G. Meade, Md.

The 22-year-old soldier is a 1966 graduate of Pulaski High School, Milwaukee.
