Schafer, Olive (18 March 1887 - 8 November 1950)

Miss Olive Schafer of 222 West Street died at her home on November 8, 1950 after an illness of one year.

Funeral services were conducted November 11 at the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Miss Schafer was born in Sheboygan County on March 18, 1887, to Norman and Laura Potter Schafer. She came to Clark County with her parents when young. They located on a farm in the Town of York, where they resided until 1914. They then moved to Neillsville and located on North Grand Avenue, which was her home until a few years ago, she purchased a home on West Street. She was employed by A. H. Van Gorden and Sons for several years until a year ago when she became ill. She was a member of the Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors of America No. 78, and the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by an uncle, Will Owens, who made his home with her, and the following cousins: Wayne Potter, Neillsville; Harland Potter, Williams Bay; Mrs. Lula Potter, Mrs. Mae McKee, Mason City, Ia.; and Mrs. Myrtle Horton of Kalamazoo, Mich.

Her father preceded her in death in 1925 and her mother in 1944.

Pallbearers were Joe Urlaub, Don Dundas, Louie Weisner, Jessie Mortimer, Frank Luck, and H. A. Van Gorden.

Floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Jessie Mortimer, Mrs. Carl Thoma, Mrs. Joe Urlaub and Mrs. Heron Van Gorden.

Miss Mary Ann Smith sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Virgil Nulton. Members of the Royal Neighbors attended in a body.

Persons from out of town attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Harland Potter and daughter, Mary Ellen, Williams Bay; Mr. and Mrs. B. A. Potter, Mrs. W. J. Vashinder, Mrs. S. M. McKee, Mrs. C. H. Horton, all of Mason City, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Chedisster of Kalamazoo, Mrs. Frank Rogers and Will Campbell of Marshfield.
