Heglund, Arthur Rodman (23 APR 1919 - 7 OCT 2013)

Arthur Rodman Heglund, 94, passed away Monday Oct. 7, 2013, at Zablocki VA Medical Center.

He was born April 23, 1919, in Ashland to H. Arthur and Rose (Nemec) Heglund. He was a 1937 graduate of Ashland High School and a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in 1941. He attended Augustaus Seminary for two years and University of Lund School of Theology for two years.

He served in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater from March 3, 1943, until honorably discharged Jan. 22, 1946.

Arthur belonged to many service organizations with life memberships and was past Commanders of Rev. Raphael Heinz Post 498 and VFW Post 2028. He was state Chaplain of the American Legion in 1981-82. He was a lifelong member of Saron Lutheran Church at Ashland.

Arthur was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Brewers and Packers. He enjoyed taking part in many of the activities at the VA Center and singing solos at the Lutheran services.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Rannow of Colby. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Joan Heglund; and his brother-in-law, Arnold Rannow.

A grave side service was held on Friday Oct. 11, at Southern WI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. The Brett Funeral Home of Milwaukee assisted the family.
