Apfelbeck, Lavonne M. (Prueher) (28 OCT 1916 - 13 OCT 2013)

Lavonne M. Apfelbeck, 83, of Colby, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Burial will be held in Abbotsford Public Cemetery in Abbotsford. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of services Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is serving the family.

Lavonne was born on May 25, 1930, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Carl and Mary Ann (Gettler) Prueher. She graduated from Chippewa Falls McDonell High School in 1948. Lavonne was united in marriage to Hubert Apfelbeck on January 20, 1949, in Chippewa Falls.

She worked at Wick Building Systems in Spencer for seven years. Lavonne was also a seamstress for Springcrest Drapery in Abbotsford. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, crafting, playing bingo, going to the casino, camping and traveling. Lavonne especially enjoyed winters in Florida.

Lavonne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hubert “Hub” of Colby; five children, Michael (Pam) Apfelbeck of Rhinelander, Ronald (Diann) Apfelbeck of Chelsea, Sherri Leu (special friend, Ronald Poehnelt), James Apfelbeck (special friend, Karen Sebold) and Jeannie (Phil) Purdy all of Abbotsford; former son-in-law, Allen Leu of Abbotsford.

She is further survived by eight grandchildren, Kim Leu, Kristy (Allan) Bender, Kerry (Joe) Clements, Dana (Chris) Klauk, Heather Apfelbeck (special friend, Dave Brahm), Jason (Lacy) Apfelbeck, Mike (Carrie) Apfelbeck and Michelle (Jason) Kayhart; 12 great-grandchildren, Cody, Nick, Adeline, Georgia, Noah, Anya, Erika, Jaden, Catera, Coy, Jude and Grace; her twin-sister, Lorraine (Wayne) Bergevin of Chippewa Falls; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Ramona.

Lavonne’s family would like Memorials designated to Special Olympics.
