Steele, Paul #2 (10 JUL 1910 - 1 MAY 1950)

Paul Steele, who lives on a farm 5 miles southeast of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), was killed at 10:45 a.m. Monday morning in a traffic accident.

Steele had brought his daughter, Ruth, 12, to Greenwood earlier to attend rural day exercises at the high school.

Returning alone, he evidently lost control of his car and crashed into a large elm tree, about 2 miles north of Greenwood on Highway 73. He died almost immediately.

The accident was witnessed by Mrs. Vern Severson of Greenwood, who was driving in the opposite direction. She saw the car coming over the hill and reported that it was not going fast. As the car started to leave the pavement, it gathered speed, according to Mrs. Severson.

Clark County officials were called to the scene and reported that Steele apparently suffered a heart attack.

Mr. Steele is survived by his wife and two children.
