Brunett, Ambrose (8 FEB 1865 - 11 FEB 1950)

Another pioneer of Clark County, Wis. has answered the final summons. Saturday relatives and friends received word that Ambrose Brunett had quietly passed away and had crossed the Great Divide to his eternal rest.

He had been serious ill but a few days before his death. He entered St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for treatment on Monday evening, Feb. 6th and died at 7 o’clock Saturday morning. He spent his 85th birthday anniversary at the hospital.

Ambrose Brunett was born Feb. 8, 1865 at Onalaska, Wis. When a young man he moved near Arkansaw, Wis., Pepin Co.. In 1893 he was married to Pearl Ingersoll, who preceded him in death in 1919. Four children were born tot his union: Paul, Roman, Ruth and Marion. They moved to the present Brunett farm in Worden (Clark Co.) in 1903, where he has lived with his son Paul and family since the death of his wife.

He is survived by one son Paul, two daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Leo Fischer of Thorp and Miss Marion of Minneapolis; fourteen grandchildren and one brother Alex Brunett of International Falls, Minn. One son, Romain, passed away in 1941.

One of the highlights in his later years was to attend "The Settler’s Reunion" at Arkansaw, of which he was a charter member. Last year he was unable to attended on account of his health.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Bernard’s Church on Tuesday morning by Rev. A. Muckerheide and burial was made in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were six of his grandsons: Edward, Francis and Robert Brunett, William, James and Louis Fischer.

We can only remind these mourners that he is not dead, he is only sleeping, resting after a well spent life here; he cannot and would not, if he could, return to us, we can if we will, got to him.

Relatives from away who attended the funeral were: Miss Marion Brunett of Minneapolis; Giles and Lester Brunett, International Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Otto Darge and daughter Beverly of Solon Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brunett, Rice Lake; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ingersoll and E. C. Ingersoll of Minneapolis, Minn.; Frank Grossman of Menomonie and Percy Brunett of Rice Lake.
