Shramek, Joyce Marie (Marriage - 9 September 1950)

The Methodist Church at Humbird was the scene on Saturday afternoon, September 9, 1950, of the wedding of Miss Joyce Marie Shramek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Shramek, and Melvin Putman, son of Mrs. Anna Putman, all of Humbird. The two o’clock ceremony was performed by the Rev. Brooks in a setting of baskets of gladioli.

The bride chose for her wedding a gown of white shaded lace over white satin. Her finger-tip veil was held in place by a crown of rhinestones. Her bridal bouquet was white gladioli and pink rose buds. She was given in marriage on the arm of her father.

The matron of honor was Miss Joyce Larsen. She wore a Nile green gown of net over satin and wore a headdress of white roses.

The groom was attended by Arthur Putman, brother of the groom. They wore white carnation boutonnieres.

Both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom wore corsages of red carnations.

Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church basement for about 60 guests. In the evening a dance was given at the town hall.

The young people will make their home in Humbird after a week’s honeymoon in northern Minnesota and Canada.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Shramek of Chicago, Ladd Shramek of Michigan, Charles Shramek of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Silbaugh of Stoughton, Mrs. Clara Putman of Reedsburg, Mrs. Mary Phillips and Vic of Eau Claire, Mrs. Effie Bronell of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Nulting and son, Jerry, of Eau Clarie, and Charles Shramek of Hatfield, grandfather of the bride.
