Shermann, Alva (22 December 1891 - 24 January 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred (Alva) Shermann, 79, of St. Cloud, Fla., who died in a convalescent home there on January 24, are to be held Friday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the united Methodist Church is to officiate, with burial to be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The body of Mrs. Shermann will be in state after 3 p.m. today (Thursday) at the funeral home.

Mrs. Shermann was born December 22, 1891, at Neillsville, the daughter of Cornelius and Martha (Caswell) Gorman. She was married May 2, 1912, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Alfred Shermann, who died in 1953. The Shermann’s lived in Neillsville, where he was a painter, for many years. Mrs. Shermann moved from the city following her husband’s death, and spent the past years in Florida.

She is survived by a son, Dale Shermann, of Merritt Island, Fla.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alva Shermann, 79, former Neillsville resident who died January 24, in St. Cloud, Fla., were held Friday, January 29, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jas A. Musil, W. H. Allen, Jerry Opelt and John Bergemann.

Among those attending the services from out of town were Mrs. Robert Vine and family of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Elva Wald of Madison, George Farminton of Bangor, and Clarence Harmon of Black River Falls.
