Prock, Pearl Harriet (20 December 1915 - 8 January 2009)

Pearl Prock, 93, Neillsville, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Pearl Harriet Prock was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Price County at Catawba, the daughter of Harry and Christine (Johnson) Hansen. She was united in marriage to Harold Prock May 8, 1937, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. They owned and operated the Globe General Store on the southeast corner of HOG corner. They also lived there until 1940, when they moved to a house on Bob Quinnell’s fox farm. They lived there for three years and then moved back to the Globe Store. In August of 1950 they moved the store to Neillsville and operated it as Prock’s Grocery Store. They sold the store to John Trunkel in 1973. On April 15 of that year, they moved into their cabin in Hatfield while their house was being built. They moved into their house on 12th Street Sept. 15, 1973. Harold died in 1976.

Pearl was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Agnes’s Circle. She also taught CCD for close to 20 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Diedrich of Neillsville and Caroline (Gene) O’Brien of Delafield; five grandchildren; Greg (Jeanne) O’Brien, Gary (Toni) O’Brien, Michael John Prock, Jeanne Scharf and Susan (Matt) Nelson; eight great-grandchildren, Jaycen Prock, Justin Scharf, Jeremy and Jasmine Nelson, Cori, Amber, Shay and Chad O’Brien and one great-great-granddaughter, Jaylee; three sisters, Belle Mazola-Imig of Fairchild, Evelyn Walker of Rice Lake and Lila Dobbs of Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1976; three sons, Maynard in 2000, Mike in 2002 and Milton in 2005; a grandson, Tom; four brothers, Everett "Bud", Melnard, Obert and Leland; and four sisters, Genevieve, Sylvia, Eleanor and Carol.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Pearl was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Celebrant was Father Woodrow Pace. Music was provided by Ronald Resong, organist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment was in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. Prayer Service Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.

Casketbearers were Steve Walker, Don Jelinek, Bob Mortenson, DeWayne Seelow, David Poehnlein and Gene Seelow.

The Gesche Funeral Home assisted Pearl’s family with arrangements.
