Wittek, Peter W. (23 March 1925 - 1 December 2008)

Peter W. Wittek of the Town of Hoard in Clark County, age 83, died Monday, December 1, 2008 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen where he had resided since February 21, 2008.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. The Rev. Benjamin Franklin will officiate. The committal service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery in Lublin with Military rites being conducted by the American Legion Lublin Post 3547. His pallbearers will be Gary and Shelby Ackerman, Jeff and Todd Kacmarczyk, Chad Cebula and Ron Latko.

Friends may call from 4—8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen and on Thursday at the church in Owen from 10 a.m. until time of service. A parish prayer service will take place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home in Owen.

Peter was born March 23, 1925 in Taylor County to John and Mary (Swiatek) Wittek. He attended and graduated from Withee High School. On January 31, 1948 Peter was married to the former Jean Kacmarczyk at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lublin. Peter was engaged in farming and also worked at the Teledyne Lumber Co. in Owen as a supervisor foreman. Peter later became an owner/operator of the V and R Saw Mill located in rural Withee. Peter was also a shareholder in the Camp 28 Restaurant of Rib Lake. In his spare time Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling. Peter loved his trips to the casino for a try at the "one armed bandits." He was a member of the Holy Rosary Parish in Owen, the American Legion Lublin Post #547, and The Knights of Columbus of Owen.

Peter is lovingly survived by his children: Sandra (Mike) Cebula of Montello, WI, Dianne Wittek of Owen, and Pamela (Gary) Ackerman of Maple Grove, MN. He is further survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Frank (Shirley) Wittek of Withee.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; one grandson, Peter Ackerman; a brother, John; and five sisters: Stella, Sophie, Rose, Lillian and Veronica.
