Oberle, Marian (14 JUN 1949)

Miss Marian Oberle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Oberle of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Carl C. Slowiak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Slowiak of Stanley, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, Tuesday, June 14th. Rev. A.M. Muckerheide, pastor, performed the double ring ceremony at a nine o’clock nuptial Mass.

The bride who was given in marriage by her father, was beautifully attired in a white satin gown styled with sweetheart neckline, shirred fitted bodice, long sleeves tapered to a point at the wrist, with a full skirt and long train. Her fingertip veil edged in lace fell in becoming folds from a tiara of orange blossoms. She carried a colonial bouquet of white gladioli and baby breath showered with streamers of white satin and wore a gold cross, the gift of the groom.

Miss Patricia Oberle attended her sister with Miss Beatrice Meske, cousin of the bride and Miss Joan Szczech, cousin of the groom. Judy Stay, cousin of the bride, was the flower girl. Their gowns were fashioned of white brocaded marquisette over taffeta, with sweetheart neckline, puffed sleeves, fitted bodice, full skirts, matching gloves and picture hats. They also wore gold crosses, gifts of the bride. Their bouquets were of blue gladioli and baby breath. The little flower girl carried a basket of blue gladioli and baby breath.

Florian Slowiak, brother of the groom, was best man. The groom’s other attendants were Eugene Oberle, brother of the bride and Felix Slowiak, brother of the groom. The groom and his attendants wore black tuxedos.

The bride’s mother wore royal blue crepe dress and the groom’s mother peach crepe dress. They had corsages of pink and white carnations.

The dinner and supper was served at the P.N.A. Hall, Thorp, to about 200 guests. In the evening a wedding dance was held. After a brief honeymoon in Chicago and Land O Lakes, the couple are at home on a farm west of Stanley.
