Hasz, Albert H. (28 August 1926 - 18 December 2008)

Albert H. Hasz, 82, Granton, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in the Hospice Unit of St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been a patient the past five weeks.

Albert was born Aug. 28, 1926, in the Town of Lynn, the son of Herman and Helen (Sternitzky) Hasz. He attended grade school at Zion Lutheran School in Granton, graduated from Granton High School in 1944 and took night classes for agriculture at Granton.

He married Lois Schwanebeck May 1, 1948, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Sherwood.

He farmed with his parents, living on the same farm for his entire life. After retiring from farming, he did gardening and had an apple orchard. He was a member of the Clark County Land Conservation Committee; a lifetime member of the Southern Clark County Sportsmen’s Club of Granton and served as president, secretary and treasurer. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Granton, where he held numerous offices. He was also a member of FFA Alumni, Granton Senior Citizen’s Club and the Granton Rotary.

He is survived by his wife, Lois; four sons, Roger (Dawn) Hasz, Granton, Leroy (Marcia) Hasz, Chili, Thomas (Theresa) Hasz, Granton, and Darryl (Justine) Hasz, Peshtigo; 10 grandchildren Christopher, Melissa, Patricia, Nathaniel, Justin, Erin, Taylor, Matthew, Brandon and Hannah; and one sister, Edna Grass of Wausau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Otto Hasz.

Funeral Services for Albert were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at Zion Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, Granton. The Rev. John Trewyn officiated. Interment was at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Granton. Visitation was from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday at the Buchanan Funeral Home in Neillsville and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Casketbearers were his grandchildren.

The Buchanan Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
