Depa, Marcella (13 NOV 1948)

On Saturday, Nov. 13, 1948, a lovely wedding took place at St. Mary’s Church, Junction (Clark Co., Wis.), when Miss Marcella Depa, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Depa, became the bride of Mr. Ted Kaszubowski, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Kaszubowski. They were united in marriage by Rev. Jerome Kamla in a double ring ceremony at ten o’clock in the morning.

The bride approached the altar on the arm of her father, who gave her in marriage. The church altars were decorated with chrysanthemums and fall flowers.

The bride wore a beautiful white satin gown with sweetheart neckline trimmed with beading and a scalloped lace peplum. Her fingertip veil fell from a crown of beaded pearls. She carried a bouquet of gardenias and baby mums.

As matron of honor the bride chose her sister, Mrs. Walter Filipek, who was dressed in a gold bengaline gown with peplum to match the gown of the bride.

The bridesmaids, Mrs. Edwin Kaszubowski and Frances Depa, were dressed in gowns of fuchsia bengaline matching that of the bride. Their headpieces were feather plumes matching their gowns. They carried bouquets of daisies and baby mums. The bride presented each with a gold sequin purse.

The groom, who wore a tuxedo with a gardenia boutonniere was attended by his brother Edwin, who acted as best man and Walter Posda, cousin of the bride. They each wore tuxedos with carnation boutonnieres.

The bride’s mother wore a brown dress and the groom’s mother wore blue. They wore corsages of white carnations and mums.

The bride, assisted by her matron of honor, carried a bouquet of fall flowers to the altar of the Blessed Virgin as the organist played and sang "Ave Maria".

The reception was held at the P.N.A. Hall in Thorp with about 200 guests attending.

The newlyweds left for a motor trip Monday to Chicago, and through northern Wisconsin, visiting also in Superior. Upon returning they will make their home on the groom’s farm north of Thorp.

This marriage marked the first family reunion in eight years of the twelve children born to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Depa.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Alex Karter and Mrs. Gladys Chapman of Superior, Wis.
