Bowen, Ethel Naomi (3 Aug. 1893 - 2 Jan. 1959)

Funeral services were held in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Curtiss Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Ethel Naomi Bowen of Curtiss, age 65, who died of a heart attack Friday while visiting in Honeybrook, Pa., with her daughter, Mrs. James Moore. Rev. James Stone officiated and burial was made in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Ethel Smith was born on Aug. 3, 1893, in Grant County and was educated in the Grant school system. In 1911, she married Harlow Bowen, who preceded her in death in 1940. They lived in southwestern Wisconsin until 1919 when they moved onto a farm near Curtiss until the death of Mr. Bowen. She then moved into the village.

Surviving are three sons, Floyd D. Bowen of Owen, Lester J. Bowen of Curtiss; Robert O. Bowen of Milwaukee; two daughters, Mrs. James (Valma) Moore of Honeybrook, Pa.; Mrs. Frank (Loretta) Leck of Vanderbilt, Pa.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Hiram Smith of Modesto, Calif.; and James Smtih of Loyal; five sisters, Mrs. Fred Plath of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Mae Beerkircher of Mineral Point; Mrs. Ina Trelor of Milwaukee; Mrs. Roy Adams of Modesto, Calif., and Mrs. Elge Moore of Mason City, Iowa. Two sons and one brother preceded her in death.
