Wolter, Fred (7 Aug. 1837 - 12 July 1936)

Funeral services were held Wednesday for Fred Wolter, of the town of Holton, who died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. August Weideman. Mr. Wolter was 96 years of age.

The Rev. J. Brandt officiated at the services and internment was made in the town of Holton cemetery.

Otto Lindberg and five grandsons acted as pallbearers: Allen Dege, Herbert Zich, Henry and Edwin Weideman and Albin Lindberg.

Mr. Wolter would have been 97 years old on Aug. 7. He was born in Germany in 1837 and was married there to Louisa Kelm on Nov. 20, 1868.

Mr. Wolter came to the United States in 1870, locating in New York, where he worked in a tannery for six years. On May 3, 1876, they moved to Abbotsford, settling on a farm in the town of Holton, where he has since made his home. Mrs. Wolter died on October 20, 1918.

Besides his daughter he is survived by ten grand children and six great grandchildren. Five children preceded him in death.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Albert Dege, Wauwatosa, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Zich, and Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Zich of Fall Creek; Miss Freda Weideman, Milwaukee; Mrs. Harry Schulk, Fenwood; and Mrs. Earl Whaples, Owen.
