Colby, Alice (12 MAR 1948)

Miss Alice Colby of Chicago, and John H. Pierce of Guilford, Maine, were married March 12, 1948 at the North Shore Baptist Church, Chicago, the ceremony being performed by Dr. Weldon M. Wilson, who read the double ring ceremony.

They were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dunstan of Chicago.

The bride wore a beige suit with brown accessories. Her corsage was white orchids. Her attendant wore a dark print complemented with a corsage of camellias.

A wedding dinner was served at the Town House to the bridal party, and Mr. and Mrs. Luther Forsythe of Bensenville, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wingad of Eau Claire.

Mrs. Pierce is at present supervisor in the stenographic section at the Railroad Retirement Board in Chicago. She is a graduate of the Eau Claire Teachers College and Milwaukee Business Institute.

Mr. Pierce graduated from the University of Cincinnati with the degree of Ch. E. in 1941, receiving his M. S. Degree from the university in 1942. He left the faculty of the University of Cincinnati in Jan. 1946 to accept a position as research chemist with the A. C. Trask Co. in Chicago.

A wedding reception was held March 31 at the home of the bride’s sister, Mrs. Bennie O. Nelson in Whitehall.

Mr. and Mrs. Pierce will reside in Chicago.
