Haas, Allen (OCT 1947 - 20 JAN 1948)

With a high wind and drifting snow at its peak Tuesday at 4:15 p.m., death came to a little baby boy in a three car collision, one mile west and a mile and a half north of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

Steve William, Rte 2, towing Olaf F. Nelson, Rte. 2, in a car without a motor going north, collided head on with a car driven by Wilfred Haas, 27, Rte. 3.

Passengers in the Haas car were his wife and 3 ½ month old baby, Allen. Mrs. Haas was holding the baby boy, when the impact came, and apparently the baby was thrown against the cowling and Mrs. Haas against the front window.

The baby was pronounced dead as a result of a skull fracture upon admittance to the Victory Hospital at Stanley. Mrs. Haas is now confined to the hospital and her injuries are not reported serious.

It is believed by evidence of the accident that none of the cars involved were going at a high rate of speed. The cars remained in the center of the road after impact.
