Knoop, Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Golden - 10 November 1970)

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Knoop, Rt. 2, Neillsville, observed their Golden wedding anniversary on Sunday, November 8, with a noon family dinner followed by an afternoon open house at St. John’s Lutheran School. Dinner guests, in addition to the Knoops’ seven children and their families, were Mr. and Mrs. Leo Korth, Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Korth, Fort Atkinson; Mr. and Mrs. Louie Korth, Marshfield; and Charles Korth, Granton.

Frank Knoop was born October 8, 1892, in the town of Pine Valley to Ferdinand and Bertha (Beyer) Knoop. He attended the Hillside School and St. John’s Lutheran School. Alice Korth was born October 29, 1899, in Lake Mills, the daughter of William and Augusta (Jahn) Korth. The family moved to a farm in the Town of Grant in 1900. She attended the Reed School and Neillsville High School. The Knoops were married November 20, 1920, in the Evangelical and Reformed parsonage by the late Rev. David Grether. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Korth were their attendants.

From the time of their marriage they operated the dairy farm on which Mr. Knoop was born and where they still reside. Although he retired a few years ago, Mr. Knoop is still active in assisting his son Ervin, on the home farm. Mrs. Knoop enjoys gardening, knitting, and fancy work. They are members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mr s. Knoop are the parents of seven children. They are Mrs. Theodore (Adeline) Schoenherr, Neillsville; Donald Knoop, Cedar Falls, Ia.; Robert Knoop, Rt. 2, Neillsville; Mrs. Robert (Florence) Spiegel, Rt. 2 Neillsville, and Ervin Knoop, Rt. 2, Neillsville; Mrs. Gale (Lois) Minsaas, Vernal, Ut.; and Mrs. Kenneth (Jean) Goetz, Rt. 3 Neillsville; as well as 25 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Kay Schoenherr and Virginia Spiegel poured and were assisted by Jeanette Schoenherr, Yvonne and Shelby Knoop. Mrs. Lois Minsaas was in charge of the guest book.

Many area relatives, friends and neighbors were joined by people from Loyal, Marshfield, Granton, Fairchild, Alma Center, and Elk Mound in extending their congratulations to the Knoops during their open house.
