Curtiss, Wis. - Aug. 28, 1958

The Helping Hand Society will meet Fri. Aug. 29, at the home of Mrs. Linwood Harris.

The Midway School opened Monday, Aug. 25, with Mrs. Cynthia Geary as teacher.

Mr. and Mrs. John Lokken spent the week-end with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Art Lokken, in Minneapolis.

Mr. and Mrs. John Erickson and daughters left Thursday for their home in Brookings, S. Dak., after spending a month here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Erickson.

Stacey Green of Eugene, Ore., visited his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Johnson, the fore part of the week.

Mr. and Mrs. George Dunhim and children of Delavan, Wis., were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Peterson the latter part of the week.

The Curtiss baseball team defeated the Hammel team here Sunday afternoon by a score of 16 to 3.

Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Hennlich are enjoying a vacation in Northern Wisconsin this week.

Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Rosenquist of Waukegan, former area residents, are visiting friends and relatives here this week.

Mrs. Art Laabs went to Chicago, Ill., Monday to attend a board meeting of the Women’s Missionary Federation of the Ev. Lutheran church, Eau Claire Circuit. Mrs. Laabs is president of the organization.

Mrs. Ella Green of Mt. Carmel, Ill., has been a guest at the home of Minnie Green and other relatives the past month. On Friday, her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Donohue, drove up and they all returned home Sunday.

Mrs. Henry Peterson and son, Armin, left Sunday on a week’s vacation. They drove to Mackinack Bridge, Mich., and then through Michigan to Battle Creek where they are visiting the former’s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roman Peterson.

Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Johnson were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Johnson of Evansville, Ind., their daughter, Mrs. Joe Bochina and children of Madison, Florida, and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Schaus and children of Kaukauna.

Rev. Max E. Wilhelm and Mr. and Mrs. Art Thompson attended a meeting of the Lutheran Welfare Society of Wisconsin at Eau Claire Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Clayton Peissig was honored at a pink and blue shower at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Peissig Friday evening.
