Ebben, Harvey #2 (11 JUN 1901 - 19 JUL 1947)

Funeral services were held at St. Bernard’s Church here last Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock for Harvey Ebben, 46, who was instantly killed on July 19th, 1947, in the evening, when the truck in which he was a passenger, left the road and struck a telephone pole, 1 ½ miles east of Boyd on 29. A skull fracture was the cause of death. Rev. A.M. Muckerheide officiated at the Requiem Mass.

Harvey Ebben was born in Stanley on June 11, 1901, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Ebben who moved to Thorp several years later. He attended the local schools and was employed at the Thorp Hardware Co. for a number of years.

At the time of his death hew as employed by the Blue Moon Foods, Inc. as mechanical engineer.

He was united in marriage to Clara Herman on June 16, 1926.

Besides his father he leaves to mourn, his wife and six children, four sons, Pfc. Clifford Ebben, MacDill Field, Tampa Bay, Fla., Pfc. Leonard Ebben, Fort Benning, Ga., Claybourne and Ronald at home; four brothers, Roy and Leo Ebben of Kohler, Wis., Delton of Thorp and Lester of Fort Atkinson; two sisters, Dorothy, Mrs. Harold Parker of Owen and Frances, Mrs. Irving Priemau of Colby, Wis.

The deceased was a member of the local Moose Lodge No. 680 and a large number of members gathered at the grave of the departed to pay their last respects, and perform the funeral ceremony of the Moose Lodge.

He was laid to rest in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, the following acting as pallbearers, Lawrence Van Loo, John Dulek, Arthur Jacques, Alfred Kass, Walter Grabon and Lawrence Smith.
