Sawczuk, Rose (10 MAY 1947)

A very beautiful wedding was solemnized Saturday, May 10, 1947 at 2:00 at St. Joseph’s Church in Chicago, when Miss Rose Sawczuk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sawczuk of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Joseph Strojny, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Strojny of Chicago. It was a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. John Wojcik, a cousin of the groom.

The bride’s father gave her in marriage. She wore a white slipper satin gown with a sweetheart neckline. Her long veil was held in place by a beaded crown. During the ceremony she placed a bouquet of white roses and orchids on the blessed Virgin altar. She wore a gold cross and chain, which was a gift of the groom.

The couple were attended by Bruno Sraga, Frances Sawczuk, sister of the bride, Stanley Sawczuk, Katherine Koprecki, Eddie Smiatek and Leona Euski. Wanda Sawczuk, a sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor.

The bride’s mother wore a light blue dress. The groom’s mother was attired in an aqua formal with corsage of pink and red roses.

The 600 guests enjoyed the reception held at the P.R.C.V. ballroom in Chicago.

Out of town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sawczuk and daughter Frances and Mrs. Marie Balcer and daughter Joyce.

The couple will make their home in Chicago, where they are both employed.
