Smith, Carla Rae (July ? 1966

The Free Methodist Church, Auburn, was the setting for the recent ceremony which united Miss Carla Rae Smith and George M. Anderson.

Parents of the newly-wedded pair are Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Smith, Sumner, Wash., and Mr. and Mrs. George M. Anderson, Cedar, Minn.

The altar where the Rev. Donald Atkinson performed the double-ring ceremony, was decorated with arrangements of lavender and white gadioli, and the church aisle was marked with matching bows at each pew.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a gown of peau d ange lace over taffeta. The fitted lace bodice had a scalloped Sabrina neckline and long sleeves. Three tiers of scalloped lace enhanced the floor-length skirt with the scalloped hem line flowing into a chapel-length train. A petite pearl-edged crown studded with sequins and pearl drops held a double pouf veil of imported bridal illusion to her hair. She carried a bouquet of stephanotis centered with a lavender orchid.

Mrs. Darlene Ystad, Puyallup, was her sister’s matron of honor and Miss Sharon Waddell, Auburn, was her bridesmaid. Their floor-length gowns of yellow sheer over taffeta were fashioned with a scooped neckline and three-quarter-length sleeves on a fitted bodice. The floor-length controlled dome skirt was inset at the waist with a band trimmed at the back with a single fabris rose.

Lighting the candles for the evening ceremony were Mary Beth and Kenneth Nelson, niece and nephew of the bride, with Arlene and Arlin Ysted serving as flower girl and ring bearer for their aunt,

Three brothers of the groom were his attendants, with Gorman Anderson serving as best man and Gary and Grant Anderson seating the guests.

Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Don Umphries at the organ, with Ted Nelson, brother-in-law of the bride, singing “Thou Art My Own” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”

The bride’s mother wore an off-white flower-trimmed suit with matching accessories and the bride-groom’s mother chose a blue dress with white accessories. Both mothers complimented their costumes with a corsage of double white carnations.

Assisting at the reception in the church parlors for the 150 guests were Misses Linda Spald, Bonnie Waddell and Faye Mills, Auburn and Sue Thompson, Sue Zedler and the bride’s sister, Ila Mae Nelson, all of Sumner.

The bride is a 1966 graduate of Sumner High School. The bride groom was graduated from St. Francis High School in St. Francis, Minnesota, and has completed his military service. After a trip to California to visit the bride’s brother for a few days, they will make their new home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where the bridegroom is employed.
