Pvt. Vern H. Leffel, age 17, son of Mrs. Bertha Leffel of Colby, Route 2, recently completed the radio relay and carrier operation course at the U.S. Army’s Southeastern Signal School at Fort Gordon, Ga. The eight-week course trained him to operate and maintain field radio systems and carrier equipment. Leffel entered the U.S. Army last October and completed basic training at Fort Carson, Colo. He attended Colby High School and was a farmer before entering the army.
