Johnson, Amelia E. (23 MAR 1912 - 10 NOV 2008)

Amelia E. "Molly" Johnson, 96, Mesa Ariz., died on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, in Mi Casa Care Center, Mesa. Final service was on Nov. 19, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Mesa. Deacon James Gersitz of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mesa, presided.

Amelia E. Perovsek was born on March 23, 1912, in Willard, to Frank Sr. and Mary (nee Blatnik) Perovsek. She attended Willard and Greenwood schools. Upon graduation, she moved to Chicago, where she later married Raymond H. Johnson, in 1934. They had one son, Curtis R., in 1941. She was employed at the Boise Idaho School System as a secretary for 30 years, before they retired and moved in 1978 to Leisure World, Mesa. "Molly," as she was called by family and friends, was quite an author and poet, having published a booklet of poems and also submitting her writings to local and national newspapers and magazines. She entered a Readers Digest contest in 1958, and won first prize, which was a new Volkswagen. She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, playing bridge, sewing, painting pictures, dancing, and inviting friends to dinner. She was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. She was very grateful for the care and concern shown her by her many friends, her nephew, Tony Trunkel, and wife Frederica, her special attendant, Janet Echert, as well as the care givers at The Springs of East Mesa, The Sterling House Assisted Living, Banner Baywood Hospital, Hospice of The Valley and Mi Casa Care Center.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Frank Sr. and Mary Perovsek; her husband, Ray; son, Curtis; brother, Frank Perovsek Jr.; and three sisters, Rose Salaker, Marie Sensman, and Josephine Trunkel.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Shirley Johnson, Inverness, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are preferred to Holy Family Parish Endowment Fund, Willard.
