Apfelbeck, Hazel Ruth (Kittel) (1925? - November 10, 2008)

Hazel Ruth Kittel Apfelbeck, 83, Abbotsford, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau.

She was the daughter of Nina Rachel (Swan) Kittel and Paul H. Kittel. She was a graduate of Bennington High School class of 1943 and St. Joseph's Business College of Bennington, Vt., 1945.

Among her many loves in life, her Cello reigned supreme from a young age on Hazel wowed many audiences. She went to study music under Carl Stern Dalcroze School of Music in New York City, N.Y.

Her other loves were reading and a good debate!

She married Claude J. Apfelbeck in 1951 in Chicago, Ill.

They later moved to Abbotsford where her husband still resides.

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Ruth (Apfelbeck) Fleenor (Bob) Abbotsford; a son, Gregory J. Apfelbeck, also of Abbotsford; one beloved granddaughter, Michelle Nina (Fleenor) Christensen, St. Paul, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Taylor L. Lehmkuhl and Megan Rachel Lehmkuhl of St. Paul, Minn.; a sister, Phyliss M. (Kittel) Tate (Lawrence), Buskirk, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph P. Kittel (Betty) Randolph, Vt.; and many other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by another sister, Pauline N. Kittel (Larry) Dunn of Bennington, Vt., who died July 28, 2008.

No funeral services will be held in Wisconsin, Hazel wishes to be buried in Bennington, Vt., with her parents. She missed her green mountains for the past 57 years.
