At a Solemn Nuptial High Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal,Saturday, June 25, Miss Yvonne Mae Mews, Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mews Sr., route 2, Spencer, and Stephen Ray McNeely, so of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond McNeely, route 1, Loyal exchanged wedding vows.

The Rev. L.J. Scharrer, Milwaukee, was the celebrant; the Very Rev. Norbert E. King, pastor at Loyal, served as deacons; and the Rev. Edward Bartz, LaCrosse, was the subdeacon.

St. Anthony’s Choir sang the Mass and nuptial ceremony. The pews were marked with white satin bows and chrysanthemums, and the altars were graced with bouquets of yellow gladioli and white chrysanthemums. Special music was played by the choir while the bride placed a bouquet of red sweetheart roses at the foot of the Virgin Mary.

The bride given in marriage by he father wore an embroidered lace and silk organza gown made with scoop neckline with lace appliqué on the bodice and down the front of the skirt. A bow at the center back held the flowing chapel train.

Her pearlized crown of flowers held her three-tiered silk illusion fingertip veil and a detachable chapel-length veil. She carried a bouquet of white orchids and stephanotis.

The bride chose for her attendants, Miss Diana Mews, route 2, Spencer, the maid of honor, and Miss Mary Mcneely, route 1, Loyal, Miss Ardella Dahlke, Cary, Illinois, and Miss POaula Davel, Milwaukee, the bridesmaids.

The aides were seen in matching long spring green linen gowns with wheat and moss velvet bows at the empire waistlines, A-line skirts and sweep trains in the back. They carried colonial-type arrangements of white daisies and matching net in spring green hue. Their headpieces were clusters of white daisies and spring green netting.

Michael McNeely, route 1, Loyal was his brother’s best man. The groomsmen were Harvey Mews Jr., Milwaukee, Pat McNeely, route 1, Loyal and Alan Tesmer, Spencer. Junior ushers were John McNeely and Tracy Jon Mews.

A wedding reception was held at K Corners and a dinner was served at the parish hall. A wedding dance was held that evening at the Silver Dome, Neillsville.

They are both 1963 graduates of Loyal High School. She was employed by Milwaukee County Civil Service as a medical stenographer at Milwaukee County General Hospital. The groom attended Wisconsin State University-River Falls for two years and now farms with his father.

After three weeks honeymoon in the western states and Hawaii, the couple will reside in Loyal.

Honored guests were the grandparents; Mr. Leonard Knapp, Pittsville; Mr. Joseph Pernsteiner Sr., Greenwood; and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. McNeely, Medford.

Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Nowaczyk, and Mr. ?; Mrs. Lois Knapp, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Knapp, and Mrs. Marge Bock, Pittsville; Mr. and Mrs. Amber Bushman, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Mews, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hamus, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hamus, Junction City; Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Huebner, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ress, Auburndale; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ress, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Oertl, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Chester Pernsteiner, Mr. and Mrs. James Pernsteiner, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pernsteiner Jr., Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pernsteiner, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pernsteiner, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Aliman, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor, Stanley. Also in attendance were Loyal area guests.
