The Women’s Guild met in Zion United Church Thursday afternoon. Mrs. Theodore Abel presided. Officers re-elected for two years are Mrs. Theodore Abel, president, and Mrs. Hugh Severson, secretary.

Monetary gifts were received from the estates of the late Mrs. Ella Schwarze and Mrs. Bertha Buker. “Thank yous” were received from Mrs. Christ Keiner and Mrs. James Metcalf for birthday remembrances. Mrs. Paul Acker and Mrs. Richard Acker read articles.

Miss Louise Keiner read an article stating that Rev. Charles Koch, former Greenwood pastor, has resigned from his pastorate tat St. John’s United Church of Christ in New Holstein, where he has been for the last 12 years. He has accepted a call from St. Paul’s United Church of Christ which becomes effective following his last service in new Holstein November 1. The Rev. Mr. Koch was pastor of Immanuel and Zion churches from 1951-1957.

The Rev. David Logue presented the lesson on “We trust His promises.”

The group decided to serve the Rotary dinner October 8.

The Circles of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church will meet as follows: Esther Circle, today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Wayne Birkett, with Mrs. Adolph Jackson in charge of the Bible Study; Naomi Circle, at the home of Mrs. Lyle Verhulst October 15 at 2 p.m.

The Women’s Society of Christian Service will meet Friday afternoon in Grace United Methodist Church. Hostesses will be Mrs. Thomas Strey and Mrs. John Zimmer, Jr. Program chairman will be Mrs. John Syth.

The Clark County Auxiliaries fall council meeting will be held in the Legion Hall in Greenwood Tuesday evening, October 13.

The Rev. Mr. Robbins of Cadott was guest speaker at the Sunday morning worship service at Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Simonson of West Allis spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Meinholdt.

Mr. and Mrs. Orlin Thompson of Portage spent the weekend with her brother, Robert Stewart, and his sister, Mrs. Stewart, who is a patient at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.

Mr and Mrs. Harold Dunn of Eau Claire visited Sunday at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Voie.

Harry Plunkett attended the wedding of a cousin in Baraboo Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lorris Dusso of Madison visited recently at the Clarence Meinhardt home.

Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kolpanen arrived Saturday from Milwaukee to spend a week at the home of her brother, Oscar Meinholdt.

Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cox attended the wedding of Joycelyn Hardt to Lynn Shattuck Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens.

The Intersee Club was entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Mrs. Joe Gregorich.

Supper guests Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Elvera Fravert were Oscar Meinholdt and Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kolpanen of Milwaukee.

Sunday school classes are being held at 10:30 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ after the summer recess. Classes are being conducted by the superintendent, the Rev. David Logue, who also instructs the confirmation classes. Teachers and substitute teachers are Brenda Lust, pre-school; Sharon Logue, grades one and two; Mrs. David Logue, grades three and four; Mrs. Vernon Lust, grades five and six; and mr. Donald Noeldner and Mrs. Allen Dallman, music.

Miss Elsie Abel is a surgical patient at a hospital in Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Braun left Wednesday for Sheboygan Falls, accompanied by Mrs. Tillie Braun who spent some time at the Mrs. Clara Liebzeit and Braun homes.

Mrs. Esther Curtiss and Mrs. Alice Perkins spent from Sunday until Wednesday at Merrill and with friends at Star Lake.

St. Ann’s society held its first meeting after a summer recess Thursday evening in St. Mary’s Hall. Mrs. Francis Brey presided. Other officers are Mrs. Lawrence Lindner, vice president; Mrs. Ronald Kitzhaber, secretary; and Mrs. Donald Linder treasurer. Mrs. Carl Lindner reported on international affairs.

The Rev. Leander Koopman suggested that it would be a good idea to have a high mass for deceased St. Ann Members on the first Friday or Saturday of each month.

Mrs. Bernard Kitzhaber reported on the Clark-Jackson Deanery held September 22 in Thorp and announced that the National Deanery convention will be held in Minneapolis October 12 to 16. Members voted to send and finance the trip to the convention for the president and vice president. St. Margaret’s group served a lunch.

The next meeting will be held October 29. St. Maria’s group will be hostesses.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kaltinger have returned after a two-week trip to the west coast. They visited his army buddies and other friends in Pasco, Wash.; and with the Sain and Barron families in Whitetail and Flaxville, Mont.; in Salt Lake City, Price and Helper, Ut.; Denver, Colo.; Canada; and with cousins in Superior and Rock Springs, Wyo.

Mr. and Mrs. Leon Metcalf and Kenneth Metcalf of Neillsville and Mrs. Mildred Warnecke of Chicago visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kaudy.

The 77th birthday of Carl Krogness was celebrated September 29 at the Clark County Home for the Aged, where he resides.

Mr. and Mrs. John Kaltinger spent the weekend in Chicago, where they attended the annual Kaltinger family reunion. They brought back with them his mother, Mrs. John Kaltinger, Sr., who had spent two weeks with her sons and daughters there.

Newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. Tom Conway of Chicago, who were married September 19, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kaudy, from Monay until Friday. Mrs. Conway is the former Marie Kaudy.

The contract bridge club was entertained Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Cox.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Stewart spent the weekend in Rochester, Minn., at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Humke.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenny Stafford and children were weekend guests at the home of his mother, Mrs. Kenneth Stafford.

Mrs. Vernon Kuester and children of Eleva and Mrs. William Olson and daughter of Amherst visited last weekend at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Wallick.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carteron and sons, Dennis and John, spent Sunday on a sightseeing trip to Copper Falls and called at the Frank Jasurda home in Phillips.
