Kommer, Lela Madge (5 Jan. 1897 - 20 Apr. 1936)

(South Spencer News) Last week Tuesday morning this community was shocked and saddened, when it was learned that Mrs. Otto Kommer had passed into the great beyond, although she had been ill for three weeks with the dreaded scarlet fever, and for the greater part of that time was in a critical condition. Yet she had apparently rallied and it was hoped she was to recover.

Lela Madge Dickinson, youngest daughter of Julius and Nancy Smith Dickinson, was born at Mt. Tabor, Wisconsin Jan. 5, 1897, and passed away at 9:45 P.M. Monday, April 20. She moved here with her parents in 1903 and received her education in the Spencer School. She was married to Otto Kommer Oct. 20, 1914, at Spencer, Wis.

Mrs. Kommer was a loving daughter and devoted wife and mother and was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church for a number of years. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and one son Dareld; her mother, Mrs. Nancy Dickinson; three brothers, Clem Dickinson of Hot Springs, S. D., Floyd of Humbird and Vivian M., who is living on the home farm; one sister, Mrs. Mae Boyce, Grand Pass, Oregon.

The family have the sympathy of their many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Kommer made their home for some time in Spencer and in Riplinger and for the past several years resided in Owen.

The funeral services were conducted at their home Friday at one o"clock and at the grave in the Spencer cemetery at 2:P.M. The Rev. Charles G. Brown, former pastor of the Spencer Methodist Church, now of Prairie du Chien, officiated.
