Cernik, Linda Kay (Marriage - 19 September 1970)

Miss Linda Kay Cernik, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cernik of Rt. 3 Neillsville, was united in marriage to Clayton Kenneth Hawley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hawley of Merrillan, September 19 at 2 p.m. during ceremonies performed in the United Methodist Church here. Rev. William Dushek performed the double-ring ceremony.

The bride wore a floor-length, A-line gown with an empire waist, accented with long, full sleeves and wide fitted cuffs extending into a full train made of Chantilly lace with a sequin trim. She wore a pillbox crown, trimmed in pearls and sequins. She carried a cascade of white glamillias, surrounded by yellow roses as she was escorted to the altar by her father.

Miss Sandra Cernik, sister of the bride, was maid-of-honor. Linda Lou Schoen of Eau Claire, Shelby Hawley of Merrillan and Kada Lou Fitzmaurice of Alma Center were bridesmaids. They wore empire waist gowns with white lace tops and yellow crepe skirts, accented with yellow satin bows and long sleeves, and carried yellow and orange glamillias.

Allen Hawley, brother of the groom, was bestman. Douglas Cernik of Wisconsin Rapids, Jerry Cernik and Jeff Hawley were groomsmen. Ushers were Allen Hostrawser of Black River Falls and Larry Fitzmaurice of Taylor. Mr. LeRoy Fitzmaurice of Alma Center sang. She was accompanied by Linda Diers of Neillsville.

A reception was held at the American Legion Hall, with 250 guests attending. The hall was decorated with white and yellow ‘mums at the bride’s table and yellow and white streamers and bells. The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Franklin Schoen.

The bride was graduated in May 1970, from Neillsville High School and employed in Neillsville. The groom was graduated from Lincoln High at Alma Center in 1968. He is employed in Eau Claire. After a wedding trip the couple will make their home in Merrillan.
