Stayton, Alvira (16 OCT 1943)

The United Lutheran church in Greenwood was the scene of a beautiful double ring ceremony at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, when Miss Alvira Stayton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stayton of Loyal and Vern A. Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Olsen of the town of Loyal were united in marriage by the Rev. A. E. Norson.

The bride was gowned in a white satin, full flowing, long train dress, with a shirred bodice, sweetheart neckline and large puffed sleeves, ending with a point on the back of the hand. A fingertip veil was caught to a tiara of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of small red roses and white carnations, with a large lace handkerchief.

The maid of honor, Miss Luella Stayton of Chicago, sister of the bride, wore a formal of ice blue satin and tulle. Her shoulder corsage was of roses and white carnations, with matching ribbons.

Bridesmaids were Miss Marjory Stayton of Chicago, another sister of the bride, and Miss Vivian Johnson of Chicago and Mrs. Clarabell Chonas of Milwaukee, friends of the bride. Miss Stayton wore pale green taffeta with shirred neckline and three quarter length sleeves; Miss Johnson wore a dress of pale pink, with satin bodice and net skirt, having a heart shaped neckline and puffed sleeves, and Mrs. Chonas wore a gown of pale yellow, with lace bodice and a net skirt. All wore shoulder corsages of red roses and white asters, with matching ribbons and carried matching lace trimmed linen handkerchiefs.

Best man was john A. Olsen, brother of the groom. Other attendants were Floyd and Arthur Olsen, brothers of the groom, and Harry Chonas, a friend. Art Olsen and Mr. Chonas were ushers. The groom wore his uniform. The best man wore a teal blue suit, while the other attendants were dressed in dark teal blue suits. All attendants had boutonnieres of white carnations.

Miss Dorothy Kanneberg of Loyal sang "At Dawning I Love You" and "Because" at the ceremony, and Mrs. Norson played the wedding march.

Following the ceremony at the church, a 6 o’clock dinner was served to about 25 guests at the home of the bride’s parents, the house being decorated in pastel streamers. The centerpiece was a large three-tier wedding cake, with a miniature bride and groom on top.

Out of town guests at the wedding were Misses Luella and Marjory Stayton and Vivian Johnson of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Chonas of Milwaukee, John Dyre of Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Olsen of Owen route one, Mrs. Annie Dyre of Greenwood and other relatives.

The Tribune extends to the newlyweds its wishes for a happy wedded life.
