Tonn, Augusta (1 Jan. 1862 - 14 Mar. 1957)

Mrs. Frank (Augusta) Tonn, a 95-year-old pioneer of the Curtiss area, died last Thursday at the Havenet Nursing Home in Owen of old age complications. She had been living at the home the past year and one-half. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran church at Curtiss, Rev. Martin Krause officiating, and internment was made in the church cemetery in the town of Hoard. Mrs. Martin Krause, accompanied by Mrs. Paul Voik, sang "For To Me to Live in Jesus" and "Rest Beneath Life’s Shadows." Mrs. Ted Miller sang "Las Mich Gahn." Pall bearers were Ray Kobs, Alfred Erickson, Ervin Korner, George Korner, Milliam Jakel and Otto Dunow.

The former Augusta Trapp was born in Germany on January 1, 1862, and was married to Mr. Tonn September 1, 1883, at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. That same year they came to the town of Hoard where they farmed until 1926 when they retired and moved to Curtiss. Mr. Tonn died 19 years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Paul Tonn of Milwaukee and Arthur Tonn of Curtiss; three daughters, Mrs. Martin (Bertha) Nissen of Glidden, Mrs. William (Anna) Krth of San Gabriel, Calif., and Mrs. Ray (Hattie) Staples of Medford; 13 grand children and 10 great grand children. Two sons, Albert and Franklin, preceded her in death.

Relatives from away attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tonn and Paul, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Tonn and daughter, Susan, of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Tonn, Jimmy and Amy Sue of Escanaba, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Martin Nissen and son, Jimmy, of Glidden, Mrs. Ray Staples of Medford. Friends were Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Marquardt, Emil Laabs and Harold Klessig of Colby, Wis.
