Dix, Fred B. (23 Feb. 1876 - 29 Dec. 1956)

Fred B. Dix died Saturday morning, Dec. 29, at 7:30 A.M. at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital, where he had been a patient since December 24, a heart ailment being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home Monday afternoon, Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch, pastor of the First Evangelical and Reformed church, officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Frank Marquardt, J. A. Young, Emil Martin, C. J. Bane, Nick Schaefer and Frank Apfelbeck.

Mr. Dix was born in Shedwood, Wis., on February 23, 1876, thus reaching the age of 80 years, 10 months and six days. He came to Colby in 1902 and worked in the John and Joe Weix meat market for six months and then took over the meat market. At that time, his brother, Oscar, came here from Neenah and worked for him. Fred B. Dix and Lena Flaska were married at March Rapids, June 3, 1906.

Surviving are his wife; a brother, Oscar, of Colby, and sister Eva Wells of Neenah. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Dix was well and favorably known in Colby as an upright citizen, who, with the help of his brother, built up a fine business here because of their honest dealings and endeavors to give the public a good service.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. John Backes of Menasha, Aaron Dix and Mrs. Eva Wells of Neenah and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Larson and Edward Podratz of Wausau.
