A1/c Michael L. Spuhler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lavern N. Spuhler of Rt. 2 Loyal, is a member of a unit that has earned the air force outstanding unit award.

Airman Spuhler, a radio equipment repairman in the 1962nd communications group, Kadena AB, Okinawa, will wear a distinctive service ribbon to mark his affiliation with the unit.

The group was cited for exceptionally meritorious service in performing complex functions in support of combat units and combat support missions from January 1 through December 31, 1969.

The 1962nd is a part of the air force communications service which provides global communications.
