Anna F. Francel, 94, Neillsville, died on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008, at Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center, Neillsville. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. The Rev. Woodrow H. Pace will officiate. Providing music will be Ronald Resong, organist, and Rita Kuchenbecker, soloist. Inurnment will be at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery, Willard. Casket bearers will be Tony Perushek, Larry Spires, Billy Kokaly, Ed Bayuk, Henry Janezich and Larry Pakiz.

Anna F. Smole was born on Jan. 5, 1914, in Waukegan, Ill., to Joseph and Mary (nee Lah) Smole. She attended school in Illinois. She married John Francel on Dec. 1, 1950. They moved to the Willard area and farmed there for 30 years. They sold the cows and retired from farming in 1978. They moved to Neillsville in 1980. She loved to cook and was Known for making a mean apple strudel and "Panny" cakes. She also loved going to church activities, reading and visiting.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews; and a special godchild, Geri (Gayle) Schoengarth, Neillsville.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, John; and five sisters, Mary Goronson. Josephine Hart, Antoinette Brock, Rosie Corn and Helen Sisty.

The Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
