Schafer, Clara J. (28 JUL 1892 - 4 APR 1947)

Mrs. Albert Schafer, 54, passed away Friday, April 4, 1947, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield, where she had been hospitalized for the past two weeks. A lingering illness of several years had necessitated her confinement to the hospital where she underwent a major operation. Complications later set in and her physical resistance was such that despite her fine fighting spirit, was unable to offset the shock to her system, and she passed away early Friday morning.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 11 o’clock from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin), with Rev. Guthrie of Eau Claire officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in the Oakwood Cemetery at Hersey, Wis., that afternoon.

Pallbearers were Ervin Horn, Julius Johnson, Arthur Wolfram, Ed Stone, O. E. Parkinson, and Dwight Balow.

Flower girls were Nancy Crowley, Theresa Devine and Gloria Wolfram.

Clara Jane Frantz was born July 28, 1892, in the town of Springfield, St. Croix Co., Wis., and passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, April 4, at the age of fifty-four years, eight months and seven days.

April 29, 1914, she was united in marriage to Albert A. Schafer, at Baldwin. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where they have made their home continuously for thirty-one years.

In addition to a host of neighbors and friends, the following survivors mourn her departure: her husband, Albert A. Schafer, four daughters, Mrs. Winifred Frantz Wall, Mrs. Eula Elizabeth Camps, Alice Jane and Anita Lou Schafer; two sons, Percy Albert, Chief Petty Officer, United States Navy, and Eugene Henry, Technical Sergeant, Army Air Force; five sisters, Josephine Frantz, Mrs. M. T. Devine, Mrs. George Kraft, Mrs. Goldie Mitchell and Margaret Frantz; three brothers, Henry, Charles and Leonard Frantz; and six grandchildren.
