Sieg, Dorthea (13 May 1831 – 20 Jul 1907)

The funeral service of Mrs. Dorathea Sieg, who died last Friday at the home of her daughter Mrs. Fred Zank, were held Monday forenoon. A large number of friends gathered to pay respect to the deceased who had lived for years as their neighbor and many were the kind words spoken as to the pleasant disposition and beautiful traits of her character. Services were held in the Evangelist church at Augusta and interment took place in the Augusta cemetery. A large number from Fairchild were present.

Dorathea Luedtke was born May 13, 1831, in Segierung Bezirk, Broumberg, Kreis Wersets Brodae, Germany. Was married to Christopher Sieg in the year of 1855 and came to America in 1868, settled on a farm near Princeton, Green Lake Co., Wis., remaining there about 10 years. She was converted there under the workmanship of Rev. Michael Redmann. From there they moved to Eau Claire Co., Wis., settling on a farm near Augusta, residing there until 6 years ago, when they broke up their home on account of poor health. Mr. Sieg died 5 years ago, since then she has made her home with her children until she was confined to her bed. She made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fed Zank, where she died July 20, 1907, at the age of 76 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Nine children were born to this marriage, 7 survive her, 2 sons and 5 daughters. They are August Sieg, of Augusta; Mrs. Henry Rickard, of Fairchild; Mrs. Chas. Barka, of Augusta; Miss Tena Sieg, of Fairchild and Mrs. Frank Oleson, of Mondovi. She also leaves to mourn in her departure one brother, Mr. Martin Luedke and 2 sisters, Mrs. August Zank and Mrs. Gust Karpinsky, forty one grand children and one great grandchild.
