Payne, Eunice Marriage - 29 May 1949)

Eunice A. Payne, daughter of Mrs. Verna Payne of Neillsville, became the bride of Harold H. Humke, son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Humke of Greenwood, in a double ring, candlelight ceremony at St. John’s Lutheran Church Sunday, at 7:30 p.m.

The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Clarence Schaele of Sheboygan. The ceremony was preformed by the Rev. Alfred Schewe before 65 guests.

Candles, mixed bouquets of roses, tulips, lilies of the valley and bridal wreath decorated the church.

The bride was dressed in traditional white satin, trimmed with seed pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of roses, lilies, carnations and sweet peas.

Miss Mary Stewart of Greenwood was maid-of-honor, and Mrs. Arvin Liebzeit of Greenwood acted as bridesmaid.

Everett Humke of Greenwood, brother of the groom, and Arvin Liebzeit were best men. Merlin Payne, brother of the bride and William Schweinler of Mosinee acted as ushers.

Carol Wang sang, "The Bridal Song," and "The Lord’s prayer."

The wedding reception was held in the pink and white decorated party room at the Merchants Hotel.

The couple left on a wedding trip to Yellowstone National Park, and will be at home after June 12 in their apartment on Hewett Street.

The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School. She is employed as cashier of a local store. The groom was graduated from Greenwood High School and Central State Teachers College at Stevens Point.
