Depa, Paul and Anna (7th Reunion- 2013)

The seventh family reunion of the late Paul and Anna Depa family was held on Saturday, July 20, 2013. Members of the family met at Cindy’s Hall in Thorp on Friday night. On Saturday morning, a fun run/walk, “The Depa Dash,” was held through the city.

The family then gathered at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church where a presentation was given by Julie Ciolkosz about the history of the church, a poem was read, and a group family picture was taken on the steps outside the church. We then proceeded to the church cemetery for a brief family history. Prayers and songs were dedicated for the members that have passed on.

Following the graveside service, the family tree presentation took place at the Historic Quonset Hall in thorp. Updates were announced of all the changes that have occurred since the last reunion. Each family was presented with a beautiful family tree booklet. Many family members dressed in red and white to display the colors of their Polish Heritage. Introductions and many family pictures were taken of all present. A delicious dinner was then served.

The afternoon and evening were spent reminiscing and viewing pictures from the past. A Bingo game and other relay games were enjoyed. Awards and prizes were later passed out to the lucky winners. Polka music was provided by The Young Old Timers, and rock and roll music, hosted by Scott Filipek, kept the dancers on the floor all night long.

On Sunday, a Mass at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church was offered for the family. Following, many of the family returned to the Quonset Hall for lunch and to say our goodbyes until the next time we can all be together again to create many more happy memories.
