Freeck, Donald L. (26 APR 1942 - 7 AUG 2013)

Donald L. Freeck, age 71, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at his home in Marshfield, with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Don was born on April 26, 1942, the son of Ronald and Mildred (Haas, Bauer) Freeck in Medford. Don graduated from Medford High School in 1960. On September 16, 1961, Donald was united in marriage to Bonnie Gebauer at St. Ann's Catholic Church in the Town of Greenwood, in the Rib Lake area.

In 1961, Don was employed at Beseler Steel Products. In 1973, he was the founder of a business called Stainless and Repair, with Stan Backaus, as a co-owner. He worked there until his retirement in 1980. In retirement, he and his sons, Tom and Tim, established Freeck Tree Service.

He enjoyed fabricating, camping, traveling, as well as working on and painting cars. Most of all, Don loved and enjoyed his wife of 52 years, Bonnie. Together the two traveled throughout the United States and spent every winter in Florida since 1967. Don especially cherished the simple things in life such as a tractor ride and sitting by the campfire.

Donald is lovingly survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Marshfield; son, Tim (Julie) Freeck of Marshfield; and grandchildren, Chase Freeck, Zachary Freeck and Marlee Freeck. He is further survived by a brother, Gerald (Pat) Freeck of Marshfield, and a step-brother, Gary Bauer.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Mildred; step-father, Robert Bauer; son, Thomas; and an infant brother, Dennis Freeck.
